A Vitamix is no small investment, and picking your Vitamix model is one of the most difficult things you will ever do! I know I spent hours and hours agonizing over which Vitamix to purchase.
Today I want to take a look at one of the most common Vitamix comparisons, the Vitamix 6500 vs 7500.
Spoiler alert: I own a Vitamix 7500! I have had it for over five years, and it was worth every single penny. I use it almost daily, and it was one of the best kitchen purchases I have ever made.
In This Guide
Vitamix 6500 vs 7500
As you can see, these two Vitamix models are very similar with two exceptions:
- The control panel
- The Price
Now, let's take a closer look at each of these Vitamix Models
Vitamix 6500
The Vitamix 6500 is actually a somewhat outdated model, but still available for sale. It features three presets, and 10 speeds. It also comes with a pulse button.
The pre are smoothie, hot soup, and frozen dessert.
It comes with a 64 oz container and a tamper, which is handy for smashing down fruits and veggies as you blend them.
Vitamix 7500
- Variable Speed Control: Ten variable speeds allow you to refine every texture with culinary precision, from the smoothest purées to the heartiest soups
- Pulse Feature: Layer coarse chops over smooth purées for heartier recipes, such as chunky salsas or thick vegetable soups. Electrical Ratings- 120 V, 50/60 Hz, 12 Amps
- Low-Profile 64-ounce Container: Perfect for family meals and entertaining, while fitting comfortably under most kitchen cabinets. Cord: 6 feet. Radial cooling fan and thermal protection system
The Vitamix 7500 looks almost identical to the 6500 model, except it does not have the presets.
It also comes with a 64 oz container and tamper.
Vitamix 7500 vs 6500 Similarities
As you can see, these Vitamix models are almost identical. They are the same size and weight, and feature the same exact 2.2 HP motor.
They also come with the same accessories.
They are almost the same thing. Almost.
Vitamix 6500 vs 7500: The Main Difference
When it comes to the Vitamix 6500 vs 7500 the main difference is the the preset functions.
The presets simply blend your mixture for a pre determined amount of time. You may need to stop it early or blend it more depending on what you are making, and what your preferences are.
To me, this feature is not worth any additional money. I find the pre-sets of smoothie and frozen dessert to be very subjective. They will also vary based on your ingredients.
As for the hot soup, the Vitamix is a very powerful blender. This power has to transfer someplace, and that someplace is what you are making.
For relatively short periods of blending time this does not make a difference. However, if you let your Vitamix run long enough you can make things like the most delicious hot chocolate you have ever had - and yes - hot soup.
Get a Vitamix 7500!
When it comes to the Vitamix 6500 vs 7500, the 7500 is the clear winner. The preset functions really aren't worth the extra money, and are just there as a guide.
As you begin to use your Vitamix more and more, you will learn how you like your smoothies to be made. It does take some trial and error at the begiing, but we all get the hang of it.!
Vitamix 7500 Accessories
Your Vitamix 7500 comes with your Vitamix base, a 64 oz container, and a tamper to help you blend those fruits and veggies.
As a loyal Vitamix owner of over fiver years, I would not be helping you out if I didn't tell you about the best Vitamix accessories out there.
Here are the things you absolutely must have to begin your Vitamix journey:
The 32oz Vitamix Container is a must have for doing small batches. The base on the 64oz container is very wide, which means if you are working with less than 2 cups of anything, it will not blend well.
The 32oz Vitamix Container Tamper is different than the one for the 64oz container, so make sure to pick one of these up if you plan on making smoothies!
Vitamix Spatulas are a great way scrape your Vitamix containers, especially those corners.
Finally, the Vitamix Blade Scraper is great for getting underneath those blades. This is a must if you are like me and love to chop parsley in your Vitamix.
