When it comes to purchasing products to help asthma, the first place I turn is the Asthma and Allergy Friendly Certification Program. Any product listed on this site has gone through rigorous certification to be declared asthma and allergy friendly. As someone who suffers from both asthma and allergies, I have found this program to be a great resource. When I was searching for the best air purifiers for asthma, this is where I turned.

Best Air Purifiers Asthma
Each and every one of these air purifiers has been certified asthma and allergy friendly. While they do have a higher price point to many of the other air purifiers for asthma out there, be sure to pay special attention to the square footage covered.
Many of these products are also available in additional forms and sizes, which we will cover when we take a closer look.
Fellowes AeraMax 300

This is by far our favorite air purifier for asthma. It is cost effective, and covers a large area. I have two of them, one for upstairs, and one for downstairs.
It requires carbon filters and HEPA filters to be changed. The carbon filters need to be changed approximately every three months, and the HEPA filters once a year.
This model will sense when your air is dirty or contaminated, and kick in to clean things at a higher fan speed temporarily. It also removes odors from the air.
The AeraMax comes in three different sizes. We are looking at the largest size here with the AeraMax 300, but there are also the AeraMax 100 (100-200 sq ft) and AeraMax 200 (200-400 sq ft):
Each AeraMax model also comes in white as shown, or in black.
It is important to note that each AeraMax model uses a different size filter. I purchased two of the same model AeraMax to make managing filters easier.
Fellowes AeraMax Baby DB5

This is a newer form of the Fellowes AreaMax, and is perfect for babies rooms and other bedrooms. It has all the features of the above AeraMax models.
It also comes in a larger size that handles 200-400 square feet:
The big difference in this model is that it has a child lock to lock the controls so little fingers cannot change the settings, and the display and buttons can be dimmed. Perfect for both babies and other sleepers that may be sensitive to light.
Just like the other AeraMax models, it has two filters, the carbon filter that will be changed every three months and the HEPA filter to be changed once a year.
Dyson Pure Hot + Cool HP01

While I do not have this Dyson air purifier because it was not out when I purchased mine, I am listing it here because it is certified asthma and allergy friendly.
I do however have a Dyson cool fan that I abolutely love, and would have seriously considered a Dyson pure model due to the wonderful experience I have always had with Dyson products.

The models that feature Dyson Link mean that your air purifier can be connected to your phone via the Dyson Link app so you can get real time data on the air you are breathing.
The filter will need to be replaced once a year, or when indicated.
This filter fits the Dyson Hot + Cool HP01 as well as the Hot + Cool DP01/DP03/HP00/HP02/HP03 model. Always make sure to check you are purchasing the filter for the correct model, no matter what air purifier for asthma you purchase.

As you can see, there are two options for the filter packs. The first is a Germ Defense option, which helps keep your air free of viruses and bacteria, and the second is a Toxin Absorber which traps chemicals in the air.

My favorite model is the Fellowes AreaMax 300. It covers a decent sized area, and is cost effective. However, the Fellowes AeraMax models are also the most maintenance since they have two filters to replace. The same goes for the Fellowes AeraMax Baby DB5.

There are also some Dyson Pure models that can be app controlled! However, Dyson products do come with a premium price tag.
Last but certainly not least are the RabbitAir A2 models. If you are looking to cover a large area, these are the way to go without question.
