As it turns out, there are a couple of key players when it comes to Weber Spirit Grill grates.  While you are bound to find a huge number of them during your searching, it really boils down to finding the best.

Before we look at them in detail, there is something important to understand.

Understanding Grill Grate Material

Grill grates for your Weber Spirt come in three main types:

  • Porcelain enabled cast iron
  • Cast iron
  • Stainless steel.

Your Weber Genesis came with Porcelain enameled cast iron grates.  These are the most difficult to maintain, because they are prone to chipping and scraping during cleaning or if you drop them.  They do however conduct heat well with their cast iron core.  Be sure to check out our guide to cleaning them here.

Cast iron is a great conductor of heat, and you don't need to worry about them chipping.  However, you must care for them properly or they will rust.

Stainless steel is the easiest to care for, but does not conduct heat as well as cast iron.  You will have to use higher heat for longer periods to get those really good crusty grill marks.  They are also a thinner grate and will produce smaller grill marks.

You can read our very detailed guide to grill grate material here.

The Best Grates for Weber Spirt 300 Series

Now that we know a bit more about grill grate material, let's take a look at those grill grates with this information.

When it comes to picking a quality grill grate for your Weber Sprit, it turns out there there are a few players in this space.

These are the grates that originally came with your Weber Spirt.  If you are looking to replace them because you damaged them, you may want to consider another option.

Porcelain coated grates are extremely popular for cast iron, since it makes maintenance easier with a few caveats.

Why you don't have to worry about rust, you of course need to worry about chipping the enamel.  If you choose these, don't miss our favorite grill brushes for porcelain enameled grates.

Cast iron grill grates give a great sear, but require a bit more care than their porcelain counterparts.

The good part is that they are virtually indestructible.  Scrape them, bang them, drop them, it just doesn't matter.  You can't hurt them.

Unless you don't clean them properly.  After cleaning, be sure to wipe down with your favorite cooking oil to ensure they don't rust and stay seasoned, just like you would with a cast iron pan.

You can still sear well with stainless steel, it just takes higher temperatures and longer periods of time.

The good part is that they require very little care at all.

Let me start by saying I probably wouldn't buy these grill grates.  Not because they are inherently bad, but because they don't make sense.

There really is no reason to coat stainless steel with porcelain.

However, I put them in the list for one important reason: price.

These are the cheapest grill grates for the Weber Spirit you can get your hands on.

More for Your Weber Spirit

Here are a couple of more items you may find helpful with your Weber Spirit.

No products found.

While Weber grills are certainly built to last, a grill cover can still be your best friend.  Two reasons: pollen and poop.

Unless you want your grill covered in pollen or bird poop, a grill cover is a must.

next are the flavor bars.  These go beneath your grates and come with each and every weber.  It is one of their hallmarks and helps heat your grill so evenly.

I like to replace these flavor bars whenever I replace grates.

Finally are the drip pans to catch all the grease, so you don't have to scrub the grease out.  These are probably the number one must have Weber accessory.

Weber Spirit E-310 vs Weber Spirt E-320

You may be driving yourself crazy trying to figure out the difference of the Weber Sprit E-310 vs the Weber Spirit E-320.  Instead of doing a whole big comparison, I'm going to cut to the chase.

Weber Spirit E-310 Liquid Propane Gas Grill, 46510001 model - Black Weber Spirit E330 Lp Black Grill

The only difference between the two is the E-310 does not have a side burner.

The E-320 has also been discontinued and replaced with the E-330.  The difference remains the same.

The E-310 doesn't have that side burner.

Other than that, they are the exact same grill.

All in all, the Weber Sprit is a fantastic grill that will serve you well for years to come.  The only reason you may ever get rid of it is to get a larger grill like a Weber Genesis or Weber Summit.
